Hi friends!

We're back from Gen Con, working hard on wrapping up our rulebook translations and laying out all the cards. Here's the latest news on the project.

1. The project is currently on-schedule. It won't ship significantly early, but barring any surprises, it will ship in December. We were able to source the parts we needed, and the fur bags will begin manufacturing next week.

2. French will NOT be included in the rulebook. There's no getting around the fact that the translation for the most common card in the game is an inappropriate word in French, and pretty much a deal-breaker for retailers. So we'll have to do a localized French version early next year. But we WILL have French rulebooks online. I'll likely replace French with Japanese for this first print run.

3. I may ship the 7 Sins/Undead add-on a few weeks after the main game ships (on my dime obviously). My apologies if this happens – my playtest group is slammed finishing testing on the Spells and Curses expansions (which will be in the Howly Growly boxes), and I don't want to risk delaying the main shipments just because one add-on needs more testing. The art for those expansions is nearly done, however.

4. It wasn't possible to make orange eyes for the furry bags, but yellow looks great – so I am updating my main logo to match the eyes on the bags. I got rid of the orange gradient for the logo and now it is a clean yellow. (See the cards on the right in the below picture.)

5. Our manufacturer upgraded their printers to print the game at very high resolution, 350dpi (industry standard is 300), which meant I had to redo ALL of the icons and card templates with the original high-res art from the illustrator(!) The cards will look amazing.

6. The Basic Box will also play up to 10 players now. It seemed wrong to artificially worsen the Basic Box just to punish those who couldn't afford the Howly Growly - especially when the only thing needed to support more players was more cards. The Howly backers will get some special perks as well, including 2-3 bonus cards in the Spells expansion, and 2 bonus cards in the Curses expansion. I also am getting rid of the wolf/human role reminder cards. They backfired in playtesting and actually made the game more confusing, rather than less. Even new players don't have trouble keeping track of what team they are on. To replace the card:

7. I added a bonus Final Night card ("The Tempest") to all copies of the game. It's a storm that adds some chaos right at the end of the game if it comes up. It is totally unnecessary but I liked having 8 Night cards and 8 Final Night cards, so I'm throwing it in.

8. The Howly Growly Box WILL have vertical card slotting to hold future expansions and separate bonus decks etc. It will also have space to roll up the fur bag inside if you want.

9. I removed all text (other than card names) from the 5 common cards in the game.They look awesome without the text, which was redundant anyway now that I have symbols.

10. I need only 4 more pieces of art to submit all my files for the game and 2 expansions. If I submit my art the first week of September then I should have the printing started by end of September and hopefully the fur bags ready soon after that. I haven't worked out the design of the metal coins add-on yet.

Hi everyone!

I'll be at Gen Con next month (Booth 2861, under the name Vigour Games), if you are going to be at the Indianapolis show and want to drop in. I might even have some prototype units of the basic game to check out and test. Message me if you want to help run demos.

 

Art

Art is about halfway done for the expansions. Here's a sample of some of the latest cards.

The top ones are from the Curses expansion (from the Howly Growly Box), and the others are from the 7 Sins.

 

Expansions

While waiting on the 20-30 remaining pieces of art, I'm working hard getting all the expansions playtested at high player counts. I'm hoping to submit everything to manufacturing in the next 2 months.

Hi everyone!

If you have a custom Perk you'd like, let me know and I'll put it together for you. 

Note: The 7 Sins expansion now also comes with the 18-card Undead expansion for FREE. I was going to offer this separately, but we are doing very well, so it is now a part of the 7 Sins Add-On.  To get it, just message us with what you want, and we have to put that together custom for you.

Last night we played several 8 and 9-player games and it was a blast! We also got to test the Undead expansion (plagues and other misfortunes) with different player counts. I'm very happy with how the testing process is going. I'm hoping to be able to deliver the game early, assuming I can get the 11-15 player experience tested regularly. It is not easy to get that many people over without hosting a LOT of parties.
